STEELY BAND was conceived through 4 NY based lifelong musicians’ mutual love for the music of Jazz, Rock, Funk, fusion pioneers Steely Dan.
Seeing so many great 10-12 or even 14 piece SD tributes popping up all over the USA, “STEELY BAND” took it upon themselves to create a sonically accurate and authentic sounding version of their much larger counterparts, but keeping it in the preferred formation of a Quintet. This has enabled them to perform at venues that would otherwise be priced out or simply aren’t large enough to accommodate so many pieces on their stage. Traveling is much easier and the inevitable prospect of band overhead and scheduling isn’t crippling. The band actually travels with a full compliment of SOTA Backline, PA and lighting to be used whenever necessary. They can go from NY to “LA and go it alone”.
STEELY BAND is fortunate enough to have a lead singer with a similar vocal range and timbre to that of SD lead vocalist Donald Fagan as well as having the ability to perform the lead breaks that Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Walter Becker, Jay Graydon, Denny Dias, Larry Carleton etc… have made famous in so many SD recordings. Note for note lead guitar breaks are at the forefront of each and every show. That’s a guarantee!
A quick listen to STEELY BAND’S promo video should be all the convincing one needs to pull the trigger on a booking. Rates are reasonable and the band is a gem.
The musicians in this band have played worldwide with some of the busiest cover/tribute bands on the planet. Navy Entertainment, Disney Corp. and a plethora of theaters, PAC’s and private/corporate events are where this group of pro’s cut their musical teeth.
Affordability, sonic authenticity, mastery of their instruments and their ability to create the same type of atmosphere one comes to expect at a SD show are the reasons why this quartet version of SD is gaining some serious momentum at record speed.
All of SD’s hits are performed as well as some of their most compelling B-Sides. At any STEELY BAND show you can expect to hear songs like Bodhisattva, Josie, Peg, Black Friday, My Old School, Kid Charlemagne, Reelin’ in the Years, Do it Again and so many more SD hits, performed to perfection!

Cafe Wha?
115 MacDougal St, New York, NY, 10012
Doors 6:00 pm, Show 7:00 pm
$15 General Admission, $25 Premier
2 item minimum
ADVANCED: $15/$25
DAY OF SHOW: $20/$30
Join Pompeii Floyd as they play through Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here in its entirey, showcasing hits such as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Have a Cigar", and the album's titular track, "Wish You Were Here".
Having sold out venues in the Tri-State Area, Pompeii Floyd began as a recreation of Pink Floyd’s iconic Live at Pompeii concert film from 1972. Often regarded as one of rock’s finest concert movies (even with no audience present), David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright perform ethereal renditions of “Echoes”, “One of These Days”, “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun”, and “Saucerful of Secrets”. Later versions of the film also captured the band in the studio recording their timeless The Dark Side of the Moon album.
JT Curtis (“George Harrison” guitar and vocals from the Broadway production of Let it Be – and host of History of Rock’s Pink Floyd Album Reviews) has cited this concert as one of his biggest influences and even incorporated ideas into his own original piece Elements (even traveling to the actual Pompeii amphitheater to film footage). Together with James Preston (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) on bass and vocals, Hector Lopez (Tito Puente) on drums and Dino Covelli ( Surrogate Band ) on keyboards and vocals, they have crafted a true Pink Floyd experience.
As a four-piece, Pompeii Floyd’s area of concentration is the Meddle era, but the band has also paid tribute to the band’s original leader, Syd Barrett, with selections from Piper at the Gates of Dawn . As a six-piece including singer/guitarist Meghan Rose (Xena: Warrior Musical) and saxophonist/keyboardist Colleen Farquhar (Sax Kitten), the band delves into the Dark Side of the Moon – Wish You Were Here – Animals era, and of course selections from The Wall . Pompeii Floyd keeps their shows thematic and theatrical, just as the band itself did throughout the 1970’s.
ALL AGES There is a 2 item minimum/person for all shows at Cafe Wha? For guests under 21, a $25/person pre-fixe menu purchase is required. This includes unlimited soft drinks and one entree item from the menu.
Please note: all sales final
Please Note: Two Item Minimum Per Attendee. All Sales Final
